Strengths of SeED Okinawa
The Okinawa Electric Power Group has the strengths through its experience in introducing solar and wind power generation on remote islands. SeED Okinawa deliver products and services that leverage these strengths to customers around the world in a one-stop service.
Expertise in building hybrid systems of diesel generators and renewable energy facilities
- Between 1999 and 2002, a hybrid system combining wind power, storage batteries, and existing diesel generators was constructed on five small remote islands (Hateruma, Tarama, Aguni, Tonaki, and Yonaguni).
- At the present, we have installed retractable wind turbines on four small remote islands, and operated in coordination with diesel generators.
Grid stabilization technology for small-scale grids
- Developed grid stabilization technology aimed at reducing wind and solar power output fluctuations and grid frequency fluctuations.
- Various grid stabilizers ā power storage systems such as lead-acid batteries, NaS batteries, lithium-ion batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, lithium-ion capacitors, and flywheels have been introduced as stabilizers.
Knowledge of power equipment maintenance
- Okinawa Electric Power Company and its group companies have taken the lead in the maintenance of diesel generators, power transmission and distribution facilities, and renewable energy facilities such as wind and solar power generation, and have extensive experience and knowledge in power equipment maintenance.
- We have accumulated know-how essential for facility management, such as countermeasures against typhoons and salt damage, which are issues unique to subtropical island regions.
